Job summary

Lumen Technologies, Inc. is seeking an IT Systems Engineer II to provide advanced Tier II support for a nationwide fiber optic transport network, including NOC operations in two locations.

The role ensures 100% availability of IP and transport management services. The candidate will troubleshoot OTN/SONET/DWDM networks, participate in provisioning and turn-up, maintain documentation, and coordinate with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Requires Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• On-call after hours; 24x7 shift if needed.
• Up to 10% travel.
• Experience in OTN/SONET/DWDM.
• Security+ or equivalent IAT/IAM Level 2.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent IT field.
• 5+ years in a network management environment.
• Proficient with network management tools (One Control, MCP, DNA, TNMS, Remedy).

Responsibilities

• Perform Transport Network Management in engineering and operations environments.
• Handle Tier-2 escalations for SONET, OTN, DWDM.
• Coordinate Tier-2 network implementations; serve as POC for provisioning and test/turn-up.
• Interface with Lead Engineers on requirements and designs.
• Coordinate deactivation and decommission of transport devices.
• Maintain SOPs, circuit layouts, and network diagrams; review as-built docs.
