Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Manager to serve Tribal government clients with a focus on accounting services and grant management. You will deliver monthly closings, grants reporting, and financial reporting to key stakeholders while developing policies and contributing to practice growth.

You will collaborate across teams, ensure high-quality deliverables, and may travel 10–15% to client sites, trainings, or conferences. A strong background in government accounting and grants is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not for profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with commitment to exceptional client service.
• Ability to think critically, identify creative solutions, and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current practices, identify improvements, and develop updated policies and procedures.
• Performs project start-up activities and coordinates with clients during audits.
• Assists with growing the practice and reviews team work for accuracy.
• Acts as an integral member of Business Consulting Services and travels to client locations as needed.
