Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Trenchless Practice Lead with a background in trenchless design for new installations and rehabilitation to support our Tunnel Business Unit. The role emphasizes leadership in business development, project management, and staff mentorship across national projects.

Candidates will commute to project sites as needed; remote work from home or Schnabel offices is possible depending on project and staff needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (Master's preferred).
Licensed Professional Engineer with reciprocity to extend licensure to other US states.
Minimum of 15 years tunnel engineering experience with trenchless background and practical project experience.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with trenchless analyses: ground settlement, shaft design, dewatering, bore path design, geotechnical monitoring.

Responsibilities

Lead planning, design, and construction phase support for new trenchless installations and rehabilitation projects.
Manage trenchless and tunnel projects: scope, schedule, budget, and client relations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary, multi-location teams.
Perform/supervise geotechnical and trenchless design analyses.
Develop designs for installations and rehabilitations, including calculations and reports.
Prepare proposals with approach narratives and LOE estimates; coordinate with clients.
Mentor and train junior staff.
Lead nationwide trenchless business development and engage with professional organizations.
