Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Trauma Registrar for a contract engagement, working remotely on PST hours.

The role focuses on managing the Trauma Services registry, reviewing records, coding diagnoses, and ensuring data accuracy and timely submission to agencies. Ideal candidates will have a HS Diploma or equivalent, 1+ year of experience, ICD-9 coding proficiency, and strong knowledge of medical terminology plus Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
• 1+ years of recent relevant experience.
• Proficiency in ICD-9 coding.
• Experience with medical record review, data abstraction, and diagnosis and treatment coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Knowledge of confidentiality, medical information release, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
• Ability to perform basic analytical calculations and maintain accurate, timely registry data.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• The registrars will manage the Trauma Services registry database, identify qualifying trauma cases, review and abstract medical records, code diagnoses, and maintain accurate, timely, and accessible data.
• Submitting registry data to applicable county or state agencies, resolving registry quality assurance issues, and producing reports for injury research, performance improvement, quality improvement, and administration.
• Support department records, computer files, reference materials, multidisciplinary team activities, and special projects while maintaining confidentiality and supporting compliance with ACS Trauma Standards 4.31, 6.2, and 6.3.
