Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking a Transportation Planning Specialist to support MPOs, analyze data, and help measure congestion across Michigan's statewide roadway network. You will use GIS and forecasting outputs to inform planning decisions and work closely with planners and engineers on statewide, regional, and corridor projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester credits in planning, environmental studies and/or related fields.
• Four years of professional experience as Transportation Planner, including two years at P11 or one year at P12.
• Submit one writing sample and one presentation demonstrating ability to explain technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Utilize GIS and statistical tools for data analysis.
• Analyze speed data and inform transportation planning using forecasting outputs.
• Measure and monitor congestion and reliability on the statewide roadway network.
• Collaborate with MPOs on congestion management processes.
• Work with planners and engineers on statewide, regional and corridor projects.
