Job summary

OHSU in Portland, OR is seeking a Senior Medical Billing Specialist to manage end-to-end transplant revenue cycle activities, including billing, follow-up, denials management, and AR oversight to ensure timely reimbursement.

You will collaborate with professional billing, payers, and clinical teams; interpret contracts, monitor aging, prepare appeals, and help resolve complex accounts while maintaining UB-04 compliance and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• 3 years of medical collection/billing experience required or within 5 years prior.
• Experience in hospital billing and UB-04 claims.
• Knowledge of interpreting managed care contracts.
• CRCS certification due within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage specialized billing, claim editing, and follow-up for transplant claims.
• Coordinate with PB to submit combined invoices during global billing periods.
• Proactively collect money from third parties and explain charges.
• Analyze accounts for COB, refunds, denials and ensure proper resolution.
• Review records for complete claim processing and follow-up actions per guidelines.
• Prepare appeals for selected denials and monitor AR aging and trends.
