Job summary

Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) seeks a dedicated educator to provide standards-based instruction to Deaf/hard-of-hearing students in grades 6–12. The role emphasizes transition, college and career readiness, and related electives, aligned to Colorado standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a closely related field.
• Master’s Degree in Education or related field, with specialization in Deaf Education or Special Education, preferred and required within three years of hire.
• Must hold or be eligible for substitute teacher licensure or educator licensure in Colorado on hire.
• Must hold or be eligible for licensure in Colorado within three years, endorsed as a Special Education Specialist: Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing or Special Education Generalist.
• Experience with Deaf/hard-of-hearing students or multiple disabilities is desirable.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Intermediate level at hire and Advanced within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-based instruction to Deaf/HOH 6th–12th grade students.
• Develop lesson plans and assessments aligned to IEPs and school reform.
• Collaborate with co-teachers and education/assessment teams to monitor student objectives.
• Incorporate technology into instruction and foster literacy development.
• Support students' social-emotional development and family engagement.
• Coordinate IEP meetings and serve as Case Manager for assigned students.
