Job summary

Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) seeks an Environmental Consultant in Texas. This full-time role supports environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental review for energy infrastructure projects with a focus on Texas.

Preference for candidates within an hour of Houston to assist coordination, agency engagement, field activities, and statewide needs; remote work within Texas is available.

The anticipated annual salary ranges from $79,400 to $136,500 and this position is bonus eligible.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of environmental permitting experience, preferably in the energy industry.
• Experience with permitting processes through USACE, NPDES, USFWS, FERC, SHPO, or similar agencies.
• 1-2 years of project management or deputy project management preferred.
• Strong initiative-taker with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and task management skills.
• Willing to travel domestically (5-50%), with Texas or Houston driving distance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and tasks associated with environmental review, permitting, and compliance services for clients in the energy sector.
• Support analyses of environmental impacts to support applications and permit approvals.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies regarding permitting and compliance requirements.
• Potential to conduct biological field surveys and related reporting.
• Potential to conduct stormwater inspections and reporting.
• Assist with document production and technical editing of large, detailed documents.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to uphold Merjent's standards of excellence.
