Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Test Automation Engineer to support the Patient Care Services upgrade efforts. This fully remote role requires designing, developing, and maintaining automated functional, API, and non-functional tests, and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines across enterprise applications.

You will implement AI-assisted testing, ensure 508 accessibility, and collaborate with DevSecOps and QA teams to improve test coverage and quality across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or technical discipline plus 8 years of experience in software development, testing and quality assurance (or commensurate experience).
• Strong hands-on test automation experience using Selenium WebDriver, Java, VS Code, 508-accessibility, Jenkins, GitHub, Jira, and Xray (Jira plugin).
• Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs clinical pharmacy applications and workflows (e.g., VistA, CPRS, FILEMAN, VA FORUM).
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Experience designing and executing performance tests using or comparable performance testing tools.
• Experience writing relational SQL queries to support test validation and data-driven testing.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including the software testing lifecycle (STLC), Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM), and DevSecOps practices (e.g., CI/CD).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience implementing AI-assisted test generation, analysis and reporting, and automation capabilities within the SDLC where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain automated functional (including 508-accessibility), regression, API, smoke, and non-functional (e.g., performance, LOAD, stress, endurance) test suites using modern testing tools and frameworks.
• Develop automated API contract tests for internal and partner-facing REST services.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate application functionality, business rules, API integrations, and data processing across enterprise systems.
• Develop data-driven test scenarios using relational SQL and application datasets.
• Monitor automated test execution, analyze results, and support defect identification and resolution.
• Maintain automated test assets, repositories, and documentation to support long-term sustainment.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers, and DevSecOps engineers to ensure complete test coverage and continuous quality improvement.
• Evaluate and implement responsible AI-assisted test generation, analysis and reporting (e.g., requirement traceability, test execution code coverage, defect analysis, business intelligence), and automation capabilities within the SDLC where appropriate.
