Job summary

UTHealth Houston is recruiting a Telepsychiatrist (Clinical Faculty) to provide telepsychiatry services to inpatient psychiatric facilities in Texas. This remote position allows you to work from home or a local office.

The role involves evaluation, diagnosis, prescription, supervision of treatment, and occasional court testimony via telehealth. Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 8–5, with no on-call evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree.
• Licensed or license eligible in the State of Texas.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in general psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry or have completed accredited training in these specialty and sub-specialty areas in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, prescribe, and supervise treatment to assigned patients, in conformance with hospital bylaws, medical staff bylaws, SSLC policy.
• Assess admissions candidates for admission to state hospital(s) or SSLC.
• Round with the treatment team daily to review patients.
• Meet weekly with individual patients as clinically indicated.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and attend monthly medical staff meetings and committee meetings.
