McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston's Louis A. Faillace, MD Department seeks a Telepsychiatrist (Clinical Faculty) to provide services to inpatient psychiatry facilities in Texas.

This is a remote position enabling work from home or a local office. The role involves evaluating and treating patients via telemedicine, daily rounds, weekly patient meetings as needed, and participation in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree.
• Licensed or license eligible in Texas.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in general psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry or completed accredited training in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, prescribe, and supervise treatment to assigned patients, in conformance with hospital bylaws, medical staff bylaws, SSLC policy.
• Assess persons in the admissions unit for admission to the state hospital(s) or SSLC.
• Round with treatment team daily to review assigned patients.
• Meet once a week on average with individual patients as clinically indicated.
• Participate in quality improvement activities by attending in person monthly medical staff meetings and one monthly assigned committee meeting with task completion.
• Be on telemedicine duty and be available to see patients and consult with staff during regularly scheduled hours, Monday–Friday, 8-5; no evening or weekend on-call duties.
• Evaluate and complete medical certifications for commitment and provide testimony in court via telehealth.
