Job summary

Eliassen Group seeks a Technical Writer to produce clear, compliant documentation for backend systems and mobile apps. Remote, 18-month contract-to-hire; work with implementation teams to define requirements, develop content, and support QMS in a regulated setting.

Rate: $30.00–$36.00/hr. w2; opportunities to convert to full-time. Ideal for writers with SDLC/Agile experience and strong diagrams, with benefits via standard w2 plan.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of technical software documentation experience.
• System-level understanding of how applications and backend systems work.
• Experience in regulated environments and for audits.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear text and visuals.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe tools (Acrobat, FrameMaker, Illustrator).
• Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Markdown, HTML, XML, VS Code, Eclipse, Atom, GitHub and GitLab.
• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Partner with technical implementation teams to define documentation needs and deliver clear, accurate technical content.
• Create, edit, and maintain documentation for backend components, backend systems, and mobile applications, including software and system architecture, design, product requirements, and data solutions.
• Prepare and submit documents required for Quality Management System compliance within a regulated environment.
• Standardize and simplify technical writing processes, procedures, and style guidelines.
• Improve documentation development lifecycle practices to enable efficient delivery of quality content.
• Assess audience needs and adjust tone and terminology for clarity and comprehension.
• Conduct document reviews, gather stakeholder input, and ensure technical accuracy.
• Create data flow diagrams, component diagrams, and related technical illustrations.
• Author and manage documentation using GitHub-based workflows.
