Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for electrical engineering on data center projects.

• Evaluate HV/LV systems, UPS/SAI, generators, transformers and protection systems.
• Review critical power architectures and redundancy (N+1, 2N, etc.).
• Ensure reliability, safety and maintainability of installations.
• Coordinate interfaces with mechanical, cooling, ICT, architecture, and structures.
• Support construction, testing and commissioning activities.
• Review FAT/SAT and IST procedures and results.
• Verify compliance with IEC, IEEE, EN and BS standards.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and issue resolution.
• Contribute to energy efficiency improvements and future capacity planning.

Desde Spanish Engineers we are looking for a Technical Manager of Electrical Engineering specializing in Data Centers to join an international technical consulting and construction company, participating in major large-scale data center projects in Europe.

The selected person will play a key role in the technical oversight and validation of electrical designs, ensuring the reliability of critical power supply systems and compliance with the technical requirements of each project. Will work closely with engineering, design, construction and commissioning teams, as well as external consultants and other technical stakeholders.

This is a position with European scope, with remote work modality and occasional travel to projects.

LOCATION: Remote from Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands or Italy.

SECTOR: Data Centers/Critical Infrastructure.

MODALITY: 100% remote work with occasional travel throughout Europe.

FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical leadership and advice in electrical engineering for data center projects.
• Review and validate electrical designs from conceptual phases through detailed design, including drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations and technical specifications.
• Oversee design solutions proposed by external engineering firms, identifying technical risks and proposing improvements.
• Evaluate high, medium and low voltage electrical systems, including UPS/SAI, generator sets, transformers, distribution cells and protection systems.
• Review critical power architectures and redundancy, including N+1, 2N and other high availability configurations.
• Ensure reliability, resilience, safety and maintainability of electrical installations.
• Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, cooling, control, ICT, architecture and structural disciplines.
• Collaborate with project teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure the correct integration of engineering solutions.
• Provide technical support during construction, testing and commissioning phases of installations.
• Review commissioning procedures and results, including FAT/SAT tests and integrated system tests (IST).
• Verify compliance with applicable technical standards and data center design requirements.
• Participate in design review meetings, risk assessments and resolution of technical issues.
• Contribute to the optimization of electrical solutions, energy efficiency and future expansion capacity of installations.

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in technical electrical leadership positions, such as Lead Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Lead or Technical Manager of Electrical Engineering.
• Direct experience in Data Center projects, preferably large-scale, hyperscale o colocation.
• Solid knowledge of critical electrical systems and high, medium and low voltage distribution.
• Experience with UPS/SAI systems, generator sets, transformers, distribution cells and electrical protection systems.
• Knowledge of redundancy, availability and resilience architectures in critical infrastructure.
• Experience in design review, technical documentation and solutions proposed by external engineering firms.
• Experience collaborating with construction, commissioning and startup teams.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical regulations and standards, such as IEC, IEEE, EN and BS.
• Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier criteria and EN 50600 standard will be valued.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, solve technical problems and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Availability to travel occasionally to projects in Europe.
