Job summary

For People is hiring a Technical Lead to own the engineering of a federal CMS data platform, built on Drupal with a React front end. You will guide architecture, ensure security and uptime, and drive migrations to upcoming hosting architectures while enabling CMS offices to publish data themselves.

We require 6+ years in Drupal and 3+ years on Acquia hosting, React experience, and a background in government-facing systems.

Qualifications

• This role requires 6+ years of Drupal development, including 3+ years on Acquia hosting and 3+ years building custom Drupal modules.
• Strong experience with MySQL and SQLite databases is required.
• 6+ years of web development with 3+ years of React and linking React front ends to Drupal.
• Experience delivering software for the federal government and familiarity with FISMA / CMS ATO processes.
• Knowledge of CDNs (Akamai or similar) and cloud hosting, plus move planning between hosting environments.
• Proven track record leading agile teams for public-facing data platforms and knowledge of open data standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering for the agency's public data website, making architecture decisions and upholding coding standards.
• Keep the site reliable and secure with uptime targets, release management, monitoring, and security docs for ATO.
• Lead research on hosting options and migrations to new platform architectures without gaps in ATO.
• Enable CMS offices to publish and update data themselves within Drupal.
• Define engineering standards, code reviews, automated tests, security scans, and accessibility testing.
• Oversee moving data from other CMS sites and evaluate responsible use of AI.
• Collaborate with CMS product owners, data owners, other contractors, and partner firms, explaining trade-offs clearly.
