Portland Webworks is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a remote team of CMS developers, overseeing project execution, staff development, and delivery quality. You will partner with clients and internal stakeholders to move projects forward while aligning technical decisions with long-term vision.

The role reports to the Director of Software Development and emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and technical excellence in a government-focused, open-source environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or managing technical teams with a track record of motivation and support.
• 5+ years in web development, CMS platforms (Drupal strongly preferred).
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Experience in professional services or consulting environments a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a distributed CMS team, including in-house and contract developers.
• Conduct performance reviews and regular one-on-ones, coaching for growth.
• Serve as a technical leader across CMS projects (Drupal) and align with product vision.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to advance projects and staffing needs.
