Job summary

ClearPoint Search Group partnered with an investment manager to hire a Director of Tax. This remote role offers quarterly travel to the corporate office and a senior, high-visibility position on a lean tax team.

You will lead tax reviews and structuring of investment transactions, oversee federal/state/international compliance, and advise on allocations and waterfalls for diverse funds. CPA required; 8+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• CPA certification is required.
• 8+ years of relevant tax experience; public accounting background preferred.
• Deep technical knowledge of tax issues for private equity, venture capital, private credit, and fund-of-funds investments, domestic and international.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced tax degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax review and structuring of investment transactions for US taxable, tax-exempt, and foreign investors.
• Oversee federal, state, and international tax compliance across all funds, including estimates, return review, and tax distributions.
• Advise on partnership allocations, American and European waterfalls, and carried interest arrangements.
• Prepare tax memos and internal guidance documenting positions and assumptions.
• Support tax planning and income forecasting for families, foundations, and related entities.
• Help manage audits and inquiries from federal, state, and foreign tax authorities.
• Improve tax processes, controls, and technology, and help manage external advisor relationships.
