Job summary

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Systems Engineer to maintain and advance our enterprise-wide systems in a fully remote role. You will install, configure, operate, and maintain systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure while adhering to organizational standards.

Qualifications

Two-year degree in computer science or equivalent experience and certification.
3+ years of experience in a production-oriented, highly available hosting operations environment.
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Responsible for enterprise-wide maintenance and administration of Windows servers, Active Directory, VMware, infrastructure tools, and disaster recovery.
Maintain ongoing VMware vSphere hosting environments and deploy/expand virtual machines as needed.
Administer Azure-based servers and collaborate with IT teams on system changes.
Provide level 1 and 2 technical support to internal/external customers.
Identify approaching resource capacity issues and propose proactive solutions.
Participate in on-call rotation, including after-hours/weekend tasks, in a production environment.
Create/update process documentation and standards; coordinate with network engineers and software teams.
Perform software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance.
