Job summary

University of Colorado Medicine is seeking a Coding Quality Educator II with a focus in Surgery to join our Coding Services team. This role can be performed remotely.

You will lead audits and education for coders, develop training materials, and collaborate with leadership on projects to improve accuracy and compliance.

Applicants should hold CPC or AHIMA certification, with 3-5 years of surgical coding experience; CPMA is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• CPC or AHIMA coding certification is required.
• 3-5 years of Surgical coding experience with demonstrated expertise.
• CPMA certification is highly preferred.
• EMR and Practice Management software experience required.
• Proficient in reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a coding expert for assigned specialties.
• Provide audits, training, and education to new and existing coders in conjunction with CS Department standards.
• Use audits to monitor coding quality and identify education opportunities.
• Create and deliver presentations on education to the team for targeted areas.
• Research coder questions and provide accurate guidance.
• Identify and research correct coding for new CPT codes and present findings to the team.
• Educate staff on ICD-10 and CPT changes in line with regulatory guidelines.
• Perform occasional edit analysis to identify opportunities for education.
