Job summary

The CORE Institute | HOPCo is seeking a Surgical Authorization Specialist for a remote role. You will monitor upcoming surgical case authorizations, verify demographics, eligibility, and coordination of benefits to ensure timely processing.

Responsibilities include documenting authorizations in the patient chart, communicating with physicians and staff, supporting surgery schedulers, and maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. Prior authorization experience in healthcare is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare; referrals/authorizations experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and customer-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Monitors authorizations for upcoming surgical cases on physician calendars to ensure timely and accurate approvals.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance eligibility, including coordination of benefits; updates information for claims processing.
• Completes surgical cost analysis form with the required cost estimation prior to services.
• Verifies benefits on all surgical procedures.
• Documents authorizations in the patient chart and enters authorization data into case management.
