Job summary

RRC seeks an Electrical Designer - Substation P&C to join our energy projects team. Remote work is available with potential office collaboration in Round Rock, Denver, Toronto, or Calgary.

The role focuses on developing detailed protection and control layouts for substations and coordinating with project teams. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of P&C design experience, with strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and knowledge of IEEE/IEC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design for utilities, EPCs, or renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed protection and control (P&C) substation design packages including single-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Develop and update substation SCADA and communication drawings (RTU, relay I/O, control wiring).
• Coordinate and review drawings with engineers, drafters, and project managers to ensure quality and compliance.
• Incorporate client and utility standards while adhering to design practices and quality procedures.
• Assist in developing standard design templates, drafting workflows, and P&C best practices.
• Support construction and commissioning teams through as-built drawing updates and documentation control.
