Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking a Substation Estimator to support early-stage transmission and substation projects remotely, collaborating with engineering, project management, and construction teams to develop estimates and material takeoffs prior to Gate 4 and WBS creation.

The role requires 5+ years of substation estimating experience, strong knowledge of transmission voltages and civil site conditions, and proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheet-based estimating.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting substation projects.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment and materials.
• Experience reading substation drawings.
• Experience developing early-stage estimates before Gate 4 and WBS.
• Ability to use unit costs, historical data and contractor pricing.
• Experience with transmission voltages 44 kV–345 kV.
• Knowledge of civil scopes and varied site conditions.
• Proficient with MS Office and spreadsheet estimating.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop early-stage estimates for transmission and substation projects.
• Review drawings and prepare material takeoffs and quantity sheets.
• Quantify equipment, conductors, jumpers, foundations and related components.
• Develop estimates using unit costs, historical project data and contractor pricing.
• Document assumptions and scope gaps when design information is incomplete.
• Coordinate with engineering, project management and construction teams.
• Support civil estimating based on site conditions and project requirements.
• Manage multiple priorities and deliver estimates with minimal oversight.
