Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Clinical Intervention Specialist to join our research team, delivering manualized interventions and supporting multi-year studies focused on reducing stigma and improving access to care for people who use substances. Responsibilities include delivering brief interventions, conducting risk assessments, training staff, and collaborating with community partners.

Candidates should have counseling experience, MI skills, and comfort with remote work and data collection

Qualifications

• Previous counseling/behavioral health experience with substance use disorders or related psychosocial needs.
• Experience with substance use disorder treatment approaches including motivational interviewing.
• Familiarity with clinical care environments (mental health, primary care, SUD treatment).
• Ability to deliver manualized interventions, assess risks, and document encounters.

Responsibilities

• Deliver manualized brief interventions using evidence-supported approaches.
• Develop study materials and provide training to support study aims.
• Engage with rural participants with strong interpersonal skills.
• Identify and respond to clinical risks and safety planning per study protocol.
• Support research activities with clinic partners and data collection.
