Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a student intern in Buffalo, NY to work under a licensed engineer and project leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will assist in structural analysis, documentation, and shop drawing reviews for projects in Education, Health, Commercial, and Sports sectors.

The role may evolve into a full-time entry-level position for qualified students. Students enrolled in Civil/Structural programs with related coursework will gain hands-on experience using engineering

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor in Civil Engineering with Structural focus, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Structural emphasis).
Coursework in building systems engineering required.
Concrete and steel design experience or course work is required.
Masonry and wood design experience is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, RAM) preferred.

Responsibilities

Structural analysis and design of new and existing structural systems.
Preparation of documents and reports from concept design through advanced technical design documentation.
Assist in the review and markup of shop drawing submittals.
Recommend ways to improve process, quality and coordination efforts.
May visit job site to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
May perform other duties as required.
