Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum Insight is building a State Government Market and seeks an Account Executive to manage and grow a portfolio of state Medicaid/HHS clients. You will serve as the primary relationship owner, guiding executive-level conversations and aligning Optum capabilities to state priorities.

You will travel up to 50%, work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., and partner across Optum Insight, UnitedHealthcare, Optum Health, and Optum Rx to deliver measurable outcomes for state

Qualifications

• 7+ years of state government client experience.
• 5+ years external, client-facing leadership.
• 5+ years in account management or advisory roles.
• Experience partnering with sales, product, technology, and operations teams.
• Proven track record of account growth and retention.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Reside in the eastern time zone.

Responsibilities

• Serve as single point of accountability for State Government clients.
• Build trusted executive level relationships with state officials.
• Lead multi year account planning aligned to state priorities.
• Identify and drive growth across Optum's portfolio.
• Translate state needs into enterprise solutions with cross-team partners.
• Represent the voice of the client internally, influencing without authority.
• Support contract renewals, expansions and outcomes with teams.
• Spend majority of time externally with clients.
