AbstractOps is seeking a State Compliance Associate for a remote role in the United States. You will manage state registrations, annual reports, and notices while serving as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll tax and/or entity compliance across U.S. state agencies.
• Comfort owning a dedicated book of clients - fast, accurate work and clear communication drive retention.
• Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize across multiple clients and deadlines.
• An eye for detail - a misplaced comma bothers you.
• Adaptability and a bias toward solving problems rather than waiting.

Responsibilities

• Process new state registrations with the Secretary of State, Department of Revenue, Department of Labor, and municipalities.
• Manage ongoing compliance - annual report filings, franchise tax filings, account closures, and address updates.
• Triage and resolve state notices - review, decide action, and close in the product.
• Be the key contact for a dedicated book of clients - advise on notices, run Quarterly Business Reviews, meet as needed.
• Collaborate with a small, hands-on team - back each other up.
• Document changes with state agencies and new processes to improve the product.
