Based in the Sacramento area with PT hours, this role supports People Operations and leadership, drafts policies, manages licenses, and coordinates with finance and legal as the company expands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical compliance experience.
• 3–5 years in HR compliance, employment-law support, healthcare compliance, or related role.
• Fluency across multiple U.S. state employment-law frameworks and independent research/apply capability.
• Strong attention to detail and audit-ready records.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and PHI-handling in operations.
• Strong written communication for policies and guidance.
• Proficient with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and HRIS/compliance‑tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor federal, California, and other state employment-law and healthcare-compliance requirements; assess impact and update policies.
• Maintain the multi-state compliance calendar covering wage-and-hour rules, leave, reporting, and postings.
• Lead internal compliance audits and self-assessments; drive corrective action and report findings.
• Draft, revise, and maintain employee handbooks and state-specific addenda.
• Administer licenses, certifications, and credentialing; manage renewal calendars.
• Partner with People Operations, Legal, and leaders to design and roll out new policies and training.
• Maintain audit-ready compliance records and reporting systems.
• Advise employees and managers on day-to-day compliance questions; escalate as needed.
• Lead new-state employer registrations and onboarding for expanding remote workforce.
• Track regulatory deadlines, filings, renewals, and emerging risk; report to leadership.
