Job summary

The Cigna Group’s Accredo division is seeking a Staff Pharmacist - Rare Disease to interpret prescriptions, verify details with prescribers, and expedite order processing. You will compound and dispense medications within regulatory guidelines and train junior pharmacists as needed.

Remote work is available with scheduling reflecting peak volumes and rotation. The role requires a licensed pharmacist, strong problem solving, and excellent communication.

• Current resident pharmacist license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
• Interpret physicians’ or prescribers’ prescriptions.
• Contact doctors/patients to verify prescription details for expediting orders.
• Verify and confirm validity of controlled substances.
• Verify prescription information entered in the system.
• Contact physicians for new/transfer authorization.
• Collaborate with physicians to convert to generics or preferred drugs.
• Consult with patients regarding drug use and interactions.
• Back up pharmacists and train less experienced staff as needed.
