Job summary

Robots & Pencils is seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of complex mobile apps across iOS and Android. You will define standards, mentor engineers, and own large parts of the mobile stack end-to-end.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive performance and security, and shape how AI capabilities integrate into mobile products for enterprise clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mobile development experience.
• Proficiency in Swift and Kotlin.
• Deep experience with SwiftUI, UIKit, Jetpack Compose.
• Architectural patterns: MVC, MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, Combine, Coroutines, Flow.
• REST APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets; mobile networking.
• CI/CD and release management: Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise.
• Strong testing: XCTest, JUnit, Espresso.
• Security: authentication, secure storage, biometric authentication.
• Monitoring/observability: Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
• AI-forward tools: Claude and Cursor.
• Experience with cross-platform frameworks or accessibility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define mobile architecture and strategy across iOS and Android.
• Lead scalable mobile platforms and complex UI systems.
• Define standards, contribute to design systems, and drive quality.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of mobile apps.
• Own security practices including authentication and biometrics.
• Lead monitoring and crash reporting across production apps.
• Own CI/CD strategy and releases for App Store and Google Play.
• Apply AI-forward thinking to ship higher-quality work faster.
