Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer to join its supply chain AI transformation, building and deploying models that forecast demand, optimize inventory, and assess supplier risk. You will own end‑to‑end technical delivery across ERP, IoT, and market data, partnering with Product, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in applied data science, a strong CS/statistics background, and a track record delivering production ML systems with MLOps across cloud

Qualifications

• 8+ years in applied data science or ML, ideally in supply chain, operations research, logistics, or manufacturing
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, EE, OR, or related technical field
• Expert in statistical modeling, ML including time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and causal inference
• Strong Python coding and fluency in SQL; proven production ML deployment experience
• MLOps practices: automated testing, CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring
• Experience building real-time inference pipelines and managing GPU/TPU resources
• Familiar with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Cross-functional collaboration and ability to drive adoption of data-driven solutions

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end AI transformation roadmap for supply chain with senior leadership alignment
• Design, train, validate, and deploy ML models to production with measurable ROI
• Build predictive models for demand, inventory, lead times, and spend
• Create novel features from ERP, IoT, and third-party datasets; build pipelines/ETL
• Deliver production-grade code for batch and real-time inference with MLOps
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance for data requirements and integration
• Advance data infrastructure for real-time model training, monitoring, inference at scale
• Mentor junior scientists through code reviews and collaboration
• Serve as key scientific voice in roadmap planning and experimentation frameworks
• Identify data/tools/process gaps and lead initiatives to close them
• Establish governance, documentation, and quality controls for model lifecycle management
• Drive AI tool adoption with Ops management and training for supply chain teams
• Champion Samsara's cultural principles as we scale globally
