Job summary

Henry Schein One is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of our software installation frameworks using InstallShield, alongside core Dentrix components written in C, C++, and C#. You will streamline deployment processes and improve install/upgrade experiences for customers from large enterprises to small clinics.

Remote in the United States with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building Windows desktop and backend enterprise apps in C#/.NET and C++.
• 3+ years hands-on with packaging tools, preferably InstallShield.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows OS, MSI, and registry/file system operations.
• OO design, SOLID, clean/layered architecture, MVVM, DI, and unit testing.
• Experience with mixed native/managed code (C++/CLI or P/Invoke).
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting for installation/runtime behaviors.
• Clear, confident communicator in collaborative, knowledge‑sharing culture.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional engineering, QA, DevOps in an agile scrum.
• Own technical design decisions and cross‑team roadmapping.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and reliability of InstallShield projects, actions, and features for Dentrix desktop.
• Modernize and standardize installer infrastructure including versioning, rollback, silent installs, upgrades.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, DevOps and support to integrate feedback.
• Troubleshoot installation issues across Windows environments.
• Develop core app components in C, C++, and C# for maintainability and performance.
• Mentor engineers and set best practices for packaging, deployment, testing, and modernization.
• Support database schema management and related tasks.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools and responsible usage.
