Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join the Grid & Energy Analytics team. You will lead enterprise-grade microservices that support real-time optimization and simulation of energy assets in U.S.

wholesale markets including CAISO, ERCOT, NYISO, ISO-NE, and PJM. The role is remote, with relocation to Houston required by Q1 2027. You will mentor engineers, design scalable platforms, and collaborate with Product and Tech Leads to translate market requirements into

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
7+ years of software development in energy/grid-tech.
Production-grade software for DERs, energy storage, or grid participation.
Strong knowledge of wholesale market operations & optimization techniques.
Proficiency in Python, Kubernetes, microservices, and cloud-native deployments.
Experience with real-time systems, forecasting models, or energy asset controls.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

Improve microservices for optimization, simulation, and market emulation.
Benchmark microservices, create operations metrics, and improve system performance.
Own software components, documentation, and testing; mentor junior engineers.
Contribute to next-gen merchant optimization platform; advise on architecture and implementation.
Support Product Manager/Tech Leads in translating market requirements into technical solutions.
Serve as SME for at least one U.S. ISO/RTO; guide compliance and settlement.
