Cribl, a B2B SAAS data observability pioneer, is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to lead our Data Engineering team. You’ll shape architecture for analytics, data science, and decision-making across Cribl, writing scalable data pipelines and governing data cost and performance.

You will partner with Data Analysts, SREs, and IT to advance the modern data stack, drive dbt migrations, and own the self-hosted orchestration platform, ensuring robust logging, observability, and security controls.

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake data modeling, query tuning, and security design.
• Proven technical leadership as tech lead or staff engineer.
• Excellent cross-functional communication across data, engineering, and business teams.
• Mentors engineers through coaching and pairing.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with ELT and data modeling experience.
• Hands-on experience operating self-hosted orchestration; Prefect preferred.
• AWS and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Experience building cloud backend services and APIs.
• Production-grade practices: logging, monitoring, CI/CD.
• Experience with AI-assisted development platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for the Data Engineering team.
• Own architecture and design decisions for core data systems and drive reliable, production-grade outcomes.
• Partner with stakeholders across functions (Data Analysts, SREs, IT Engineers, and business teams).
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, and communicate risks, tradeoffs, and timelines proactively.
• Own and operate self-hosted orchestration platform and Prefect deployment.
• Manage warehouse cost/performance and dbt migrations.
• Develop cloud-native services on AWS and IaC support.
• Build reusable modules and CI patterns with strong operational hygiene.
• Mentor and grow engineers; contribute to security and governance.
