Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced attorney to manage moderately complex civil litigation within a primarily remote Colorado framework, attending necessary appearances. The role emphasizes strong research, writing, negotiation, and advisory skills to protect policyholders’ rights and support claims teams.

You will lead discovery, develop strategies, and mentor junior attorneys while leveraging advanced e-discovery tools and case management software.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in Colorado in good standing; other licenses may be required for specific boards or federal courts.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience, preferably in insurance law and related litigation.
• Proven experience managing moderately complex litigation with favorable outcomes.
• General knowledge of insurance law; workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law helpful.

Responsibilities

• Litigation Management: independently manage all phases of litigation for moderate to heavy value claims.
• Litigation Support: assist Senior Trial Counsel through all stages of the process.
• Legal Strategy Development: develop and refine strategies for discovery, investigation, and trial prep.
• Technology Utilization: use e-discovery tools and case management systems to streamline workflows.
• Client Advisory: provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to clients and Claims Representatives.
• Risk Evaluation: identify and mitigate legal risks in collaboration with clients and senior attorneys.
• Mentoring and Leadership: train and guide junior attorneys and staff.
• Documentation and Compliance: ensure documents comply with MRPC and applicable laws.
