Job summary

Virtasant is seeking an SRE Support Engineer to support internal developer platforms, across Linux, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads. This role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, deep Linux knowledge, and collaboration with global teams.

You will resolve complex issues, improve runbooks, and help developers adopt best practices, operating in a remote-first, time-zone aware environment with strong emphasis on documentation and precision.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux fundamentals including processes, services, and kernel basics.
• Strong Linux networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience beyond managed cloud platforms.
• Strong Docker/containerization expertise.
• Experience providing production support for large-scale systems.
• Ability to write Python scripts and read dev code.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-trust engineering support to internal developers using the compute platform.
• Troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads, networking, RBAC, and services.
• Investigate Linux issues with tools like tcpdump, journalctl, strace.
• Document tickets, runbooks, and postmortems with clear language.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Engineering teams to drive improvements.
• Contribute to tooling and processes to improve support efficiency.
