Job summary

ECS Federal LLC is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to support a data analytics and BI platform for federal customers. The role focuses on migrating and modernizing on-prem databases, ensuring performance, availability, and security, with cloud/serverless solutions in Azure.

The candidate will design and optimize SQL Server databases, implement security controls, and collaborate with application teams in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience designing and developing Microsoft SQL Server databases, tables, views, functions, and stored procedures.
• Writes, optimizes, and troubleshoots SQL queries for applications, reporting, and analytics.
• Supports data integration efforts, including ETL processes and connections to other platforms.
• Maintains security controls, permissions, encryption, and auditing within SQL Server.
• Collaborates with application teams to support data modeling, schema design, and solution development.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the availability and performance of the databases that support our systems, ensuring that they have sufficient resources allocated to support high resilience and speed.
• Performing and assisting developers in ongoing performance tuning and migrating databases to modern solutions within Azure cloud and serverless.
• Supporting the development team with in-depth analysis of database sources, ETL processes, and downstream reporting product utilization and complexity evaluations.
• Proactively monitoring the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime and improve maintenance of the databases to include rollouts, patching, and upgrades.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates, as well as gaining an in-depth knowledge of the business data so you can propose and implement effective solutions.
