Job summary

NANA Management Services seeks a Sous Chef to support Ilisagvik College in Barrow, AK. The role involves preparing, producing, and presenting diverse foods in a rotational 3-weeks-on/3-weeks-off schedule with approximately 70–75 hours per week.

Housing is provided, including three meals per day. The position requires Alaska Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe and 2 years of sous chef experience in a commercial setting. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Alaska Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe within 30 days of hire.
• Two years sous chef experience in a commercial kitchen (restaurant, hotel, college, or hospital).
• Knowledge/Training in using a variety of food production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure 100% quality of products served.
• Adhere to standard portions, methods, quality standards and kitchen rules.
• Prepare proteins, vegetables and other items using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other equipment.
• Ensure catering activities are high quality, consistent and cost-effective.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation.
• Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup.
• Assist in off-peak food prep as needed.
• Attend scheduled meetings and bring improvement ideas.
• Meet with supervisors to discuss menus, issues, and problems.
• Support an effective safety program.
• Supervise staff and manage daily duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
