Job summary

Friends From The City is seeking a Solutions Architect / Technical Lead for a 9-month remote engagement in the continental U.S. The role centers on shaping secure, scalable health IT and public-interest digital services across APIs, data services, and cloud infrastructure.

You will bridge product needs with engineering execution, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions while ensuring transition from prototype to production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or health informatics.
• Significant experience designing and leading complex software systems.
• Health IT, regulated-data, or equivalent domain experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture across front-end apps, APIs, data services, and cloud infrastructure.
• Design configurable, rules-driven workflows for scalable systems.
• Define APIs, data models, and integration boundaries with secure, auditable change governance.
• Mentor engineers and balance rapid alpha delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, security, and program teams to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Support deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation through production readiness.
