Job summary

540 is seeking a Solutions Architect to support a federal health data modernization initiative. You will design scalable, secure data platforms spanning cloud, on-prem, and government-hosted environments, working with DoW and health systems.

You’ll translate mission requirements into architectural designs, develop roadmaps, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver trusted, reusable data products.

Qualifications

• 3-10+ years of experience in solutions architecture or related field.
• Experience contributing to enterprise data platforms and complex data solutions.
• Experience in cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Experience integrating data across modern and legacy systems using APIs.
• Knowledge of data modeling, metadata, data quality, and governance.
• Ability to address security, performance, availability, and scalability in design.
• Collaboration with engineers and technical leaders on complex designs.
• Familiarity with modern software practices and Git-based workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and drive work to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable solutions for a federal health data platform across cloud, on-prem, and gov-hosted environments.
• Translate mission and data requirements into clear technical designs focusing on quality and governance.
• Contribute to current and target architectures guiding modernization of legacy health systems.
• Design and document data integrations across DoW and health systems using APIs and pipelines.
• Apply reference architectures and guardrails across solutions.
• Evaluate options for security, scalability, cost, and delivery risks.
• Support Databricks and cloud services across AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and hybrid infra.
• Participate in technical discovery and architecture discussions with stakeholders.
• Develop architecture diagrams, interface specs, and technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to align implementations with platform architecture.
• Communicate decisions and trade-offs to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Represent 540 as a trusted partner by sharing reusable practices and value opportunities.
