Job summary

Onyx leads a team of engineers and data scientists to design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions. You will oversee the full SDLC, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices using Python, React.js, AWS, and Azure.

You will mentor engineers, drive performance reviews, and shape the technical roadmap while collaborating with product, design, and operations. Remote work from the U.S. is possible with a hybrid/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or closely related field.
• Four years of experience in any software development role.
• Four years of programming experience with Python, React.js, AWS, and Azure.
• Four years of experience with HL7 FHIR (Fast Health Interoperability Resources) for deep health payers.
• Two years of experience implementing secure authentication protocols (such as OAuth2 and OpenID Connect).
• Demonstrated understanding of relational database PostgreSQL and NoSQL database MongoDB.
• Demonstrated experience with agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers and data scientists, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Conduct performance evaluations and career development planning.
• Promote best practices in software development, agile methods, and CI/CD.
• Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment of software projects.
• Collaborate with product, design, and operations to align engineering with business goals.
• Ensure secure coding practices using OAuth2 and OpenID Connect for authentication/authorization.
• Guide architecture decisions and technology strategy for scalable, maintainable systems.
• Lead backend with Python and frontend with React.js; oversee AWS/Azure deployments.
• Direct data storage design using PostgreSQL and MongoDB; ensure data integrity and backups.
• Act as liaison between engineering, data science, and other departments; contribute to technical roadmap.
• Participate in strategic discussions and own the technical roadmap.
