Job summary

GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer for its Vulnerability Management team. You’ll build core security workflows, focusing on Ruby on Rails backend systems, dashboards, reports, and ingestion pipelines.

You’ll own well-defined projects and collaborate with engineers while occasionally contributing to the frontend when needed. You’ll join a fullstack team, working with product managers and designers to solve problems across the Vulnerability Management domain, contributing to

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining backend applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience delivering and maintaining software systems as part of a larger engineering team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and practical debugging.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team.
• Frontend development experience with JavaScript or Vue.js is helpful.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, graph databases, or vulnerability management is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend features for GitLab’s vulnerability management workflows.
• Ship features and improvements with minimal guidance and collaborate on larger projects.
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of data ingestion and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and contribute across the stack when needed.
• Work with engineers across security teams on vulnerability data and workflows.
