Job summary

Lyric, a leader in healthcare decision intelligence, offers a Software Engineer Intern role (remote, US) for 12 weeks. You’ll contribute across full-stack development, APIs, databases, cloud services, automated testing, and AI-assisted coding within a modern tech stack.

You’ll work with engineers to modernize legacy apps, build scalable APIs, ensure code quality, and learn cloud deployment and observability best practices, with mentorship and real project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergraduate study prior to the start of the internship
• Completion of university coursework in programming, software development, data structures, algorithms, databases, or related computer science disciplines
• Foundational programming experience gained through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, hackathons, research, or other university activities
• Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as:C# Java Python JavaScript/TypeScript C++ Or a comparable object‑oriented programming language
• Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL gained through coursework or project experience
• Familiarity with source control concepts and tools such as Git/GitHub
• Interest in using AI as part of the software development lifecycle while understanding the importance of validating AI‑generated work
• No prior professional software engineering experience required

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of software supporting Lyric's healthcare technology platform
• Work alongside experienced engineers on modernization initiatives involving modern .NET, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and web applications
• Assist with developing and testing RESTful APIs and microservices that support scalable application architecture
• Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Gain hands-on experience with relational databases, including SQL Server, and learn data modeling and performance
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, and testing
• Learn how to evaluate AI-generated code and apply human judgment
• Participate in code reviews and feedback sessions
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and learn CI/CD practices
• Assist with identifying, debugging, and resolving software defects and performance issues
• Gain exposure to Azure and/or AWS and cloud deployment/monitoring practices
• Learn observability, logging, monitoring, and telemetry
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into working software
• Apply secure software development practices protecting healthcare and customer data
• Participate in Agile activities and maintain technical documentation
• Complete a defined internship project and present results to leadership
