Job summary

Avalon Healthcare Solutions is hiring a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain critical applications in a collaborative, agile environment. You will share ownership of features, mentor juniors, and help set technical standards across the team.

The role balances hands‑on coding with thoughtful system design, focusing on scalable, reliable software aligned with business goals. Remote work is eligible with quarterly travel to Tampa, Florida.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression test plans to ensure high‑quality, reliable software delivery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues, contributing to root cause analysis and long‑term solutions.
• Design and develop modular, maintainable, and reusable code, applying best practices and contributing to the team’s coding standards.
• Understanding of how AI technologies and AI‑assisted development tools can augment the software development lifecycle.
• Actively participate in all phases of Avalon’s SDLC, including sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment.
• Lead and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and helping to elevate code quality across the team.
• Mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and modeling effective engineering practices.
• Demonstrate a growing understanding of how technical solutions align with business goals.
• Build and apply domain knowledge of health plan operations and related systems.
• Participate in the on‑call rotation to support production stability.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and maintain technical diagrams and documentation with minimal guidance.

• Align technical solutions with business goals and operational needs.
