Job summary

Humana is seeking a Software Engineer to help build a new Pharmacy Eligibility application and modernize legacy components. The role focuses on scalable backend workflows and reliable performance to ensure timely adjudication of member claims.

This remote position requires occasional meetings within an hour of Louisville, Nashville, or Dallas, and offers competitive compensation and a bonus plan based on performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development.
• Experience in PySpark, Databricks and Cloud engineering.
• Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud based applications using Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Experience with relational databases at scale.
• Knowledge of server-side languages .Net, .Net Core or .Net Framework 7.0 and higher.
• Experience with event driven or message driven systems.
• Experience with CI/CD software development methodology.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver high-quality software solutions that enhance healthcare and wellness experiences.
• Develop to optimize scalability, reliability, stability and maintainability.
• Participate across the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.
• Improve engineering quality through robust testing strategies, tooling, automation, and adherence to standards.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams, partnering with product, architecture, and quality assurance to create solutions aligned with business and consumer needs.
• Contribute to an engineering culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement of the consumer journey.
• Serve as a technical authority, driving architectural direction, elevating engineering quality, and delivering scalable applications that support healthcare outcomes.
