Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design and delivery on a variety of projects across open delivery methods. You will use OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling, coordinating with engineers and PMs.

Qualified candidates have a Civil Engineering degree, 8+ years in transportation design, a VA PE or ability to obtain within 6 months, and strong communication skills. Remote work is possible with a Fairfax, VA hybrid base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight or more years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer for roadway design and modeling.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures across multiple state DOTs.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate across offices to deliver innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, and contractors.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
