Job summary

American Family Insurance seeks a Supervisory Senior Staff Attorney to supervise outside counsel in managing complex cases. You will report to a senior manager, litigation, and support the team from our Wisconsin footprint.

This remote-friendly role offers relocation assistance and a competitive compensation range. Responsibilities include directing litigation strategy, reviewing motions, supervising attorneys, and ensuring adherence to Professional Responsibility and insurance law.

Qualifications

• Coverage experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses
• Demonstrated litigation experience
• Solid knowledge of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction they practice
• Solid knowledge of tort, contract, and insurance law

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation involving the corporation and/or its insured within established guidelines and professional responsibility
• Analyze files as litigation progresses; evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary
• Oversee outside counsel throughout litigation of complex claims
• Review motions and briefs and provide feedback
• Conduct legal research as necessary
• Observe court hearings and trials as necessary
• Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze impact on policy provisions
• Supervise litigation with higher complexity across multiple lines of business
