Job summary

McCalla Raymer Leibert Pierce (MRLP) LLP in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to support day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls. The role partners with operations to resolve issues and improve processes while handling month‑end close and audits.

The ideal candidate will have 3–6+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's in accounting/finance, and CPA consideration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–6+ years progressive accounting experience, CPA preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
• Analyze financial results and explain significant fluctuations.
• Assist in monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Support audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Review transactions for compliance with policies and controls.
• Collaborate with operations to resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with cash management, treasury, and bank reconciliations.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with financial data.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes.
• Assist with system implementations and documentation.
• Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses.
