Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Platform Engineer for the Fleet Management team to own and operate a scalable Kubernetes runtime environment across multi-cloud platforms. You will collaborate with SRE and engineering to maintain reliability, security, and automation for container workloads.

You will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, focusing on blameless post-mortems and systemic fixes to reduce toil. Strong experience with Kubernetes, Go or Python, and Linux networking is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software development and operating distributed systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or a similar language, with strong testing practices.
• Deep experience with containerization technologies, preferably Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Linux internals and networking (DNS/TLS/TCP/IP).
• Customer-focused mindset, treating internal developers as users.
• Strong operational ownership and debugging production issues.
• Prefer automation over manual ops work.
• Small team with bias toward building software to eliminate toil.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing and maintaining a scalable, secure Kubernetes runtime environment for MongoDB.
• Provide internal support for our Kubernetes ecosystem and partner with eng teams to solve domain problems.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to resolve critical issues and drive systemic fixes.
