Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Platform Engineer for its Platform Engineering team. You will build and maintain a scalable, secure runtime on Kubernetes, supporting product needs across MongoDB’s multi-cloud infrastructure.

You will provide internal Kubernetes ecosystem support and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to resolve critical issues. You will drive blameless post-mortems and systemic fixes, prioritizing automation to reduce toil and improve reliability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software development and operating distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or a similar language, with a strong commitment to code quality and testing (unit, integration, and E2E)
• Deep experience using and extending containerization technologies, preferably Kubernetes
• Solid understanding of Linux internals and networking concepts (filesystems, TCP/IP, DNS, TLS)
• A customer-focused mindset that treats internal developers as primary users
• Strong operational ownership, with a track record of debugging complex production issues and driving them to resolution
• A preference for automation over manual operations work
• Must be a US citizen

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a scalable, secure runtime environment on Kubernetes that supports product needs across MongoDB
• Provide internal support for the Kubernetes ecosystem, partnering with engineering teams to solve domain-specific problems
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to resolve critical issues
• Run blameless post-mortems and dedicate engineering time to systemic fixes so the same issue never pages you twice
