Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high-scale distributed systems and core networking solutions that power our products globally. You will collaborate with teams to deliver load balancing, mTLS, and observability tooling, enabling infra to scale across the company.

The role requires strong experience with Java and Go, cloud platforms, and open source distributed systems. We offer equity, a competitive salary, and 100% telecommuting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, plus 5 years’ post-bachelor experience, or Master’s +3 years.
• 3 years of experience in cloud systems (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
• 3 years building, debugging, and maintaining distributed systems with open source tools.
• Experience with Java and Go for software development.
• Experience tallying architectural design and data-driven cost-performance tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale distributed systems.
• Develop core networking solutions including load balancing and mTLS.
• Improve internal customer experience with Infra tooling.
• Design and deploy robust, scalable software solutions; balance reliability, throughput, latency, and cost.
• Contribute to team strategy, roadmap, tooling, and culture.
• Set goals and provide feedback to team members.
