PLOS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud-native solutions powering open science initiatives. You will work with a cross-functional team, contribute to architecture, and continually improve development practices in a fully remote role.

The position emphasizes motivation, independence, and ongoing learning within a diverse engineering group. The role sits in the Digital team, focusing on modern cloud-native platforms, data pipelines, and ML-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Significant software engineering background with full stack experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a cross-functional product team to design, code, test, review, and improve digital platforms.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and evolving development practices.
• Contribute to platform architecture and ensure alignment of new work with it.
• Establish and support development processes and technical debt management.
